The Gothic Imagination of the Twins

Had a romantically macabre dream the other night.
The beast in me came to the surface and my inner twin physically co-existed with me, sharing one body- rather like Hectate but with only two heads.

Everything I saw was reflected and distorted in a kaleidoscopic way, with most things in black and blood red. Instinctively, I knew that my veil was soaked in the blood of men and my hair raven black with sin. I was the temptation- my hands with a flash of scarlett pulled men to their doom. Reality is choked to death under the tight lacing of my corset; resistance nailed silent by my heels, staining the soles red with the blood of wise and platonic men who do not indulge in the pleasure of the senses. Sadly, many do drown in my bed of pleasures and from that, luscious midnight roses bloom, thriving on the fall of reason.
Yet you only see the fantasy that you desperately want to believe in, eternally lusting for more , till it consumes you whole...

My Correspondance with the Honorable Daphne Guinness x the Brilliant Natacha Marro

Getting to know both Daphne (Follow Daphne's twitter here, its her only authentic online presense http://twitter.com/#!/TheRealDaphne) and Natacha (http://www.natachamarro.com/) personally is fabulous, as they are both wonderful people.

As a school magazine reporter, I corresponded with Daphne earlier this month and asked about her heeless Mary Janes. This Avant Garde masterpiece is the result of Daphne’s collaboration with the brilliant Natacha Marro. Despite their dangerous appearance, the shoes are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in (I personally endorse this because I have bought a pair).

Asking Daphne how she even came up with such a daring concept, she told me, “many of my ideas come from necessity, the shoes came from having to walk miles in forests in order to shoot. Natacha is wonderful as she can take the angle up or down. It was never supposed to be a fashion statement and it certainly was not meant to be a business decision.”

First of all, I need to explain Daphne’s point about necessity. Although she is known to always wear high heels at all times, such footwear can be rather inconvenient and dangerous when walking on forest floors, as the heels themselves would easily sink into the mud. Rather than resorting to flats or risk tumbling in conventional high heels, Daphne decides to create a pair of high heel footwear without heels instead, having them specially engineered so she can comfortably walk in them over almost any terrain. Genius, don’t you think?

Apart from inconvenience, Daphne’s necessity may also refer to the weariness in her foot arch after walking long distances. With these heel-less wonders, she can rock back on the soles of her feet, immediately plunging 7 feet down into stretching position whenever she feels tired(Refer to third photo below). Voila, problem solved.

Feel like buying a pair? Contact Natacha Marro at www.natacha marro.com
Yes, I am saying this again, it is extremely comfortable and no, you dont have to walk tiptoe.

Back again~

Blogging is really too time consuming. So many inspiring things everyday. I just cant be bothered to blog about them. But i guess commitment is a great attirbute i might as well learn to have, so here i am, back again~

This time around, I would like to blog about fabulous shoe maker Natacha Marro. I have this queasy feeling when seeing people say that Daphne Guinness wears her heelless Antonio Berardi shoes almost on a daily basis. Antonio Berardi is an awesome fashion designer, dont get me wrong. Its just that people need to get their facts right. Daphne Guinness buys her shoes from the out of this world Natacha Marro, who makes shoes for show girls, fashion shows and magazine spreads. According to Guinness, she did a whole load of research to come to a conclusion that exotic dancers wear the structurally most sturdy shoes, because they are on their feet the whole day.

So I looked her up a few months ago, and found these uber glamorous and amazing heels. The heeless red glitter mary janes are divine (i suppose it also reminds me of dorothy in the wizard of oz), so are her red glitter ballet boots~ however my personal favourite is her white thigh high boots adorned with painstakingly well placed feathers. Its not just a shoe. its like..... a sculpture on the feet. In my mind, if it was made in Marro's special white glitter fabric and made with rene caovilla inspried glitter soles, or louboutin-ish ruby crystal strass soles... it sd suit Aphrodite just fine~

Alexander McQueen, you will be made immortal and triumph over death

I am so sorry for not updating for a while now.

As you all know McQueen has left this world for a better place.
I was crying myself unconscious for quite some time, because he was the first designer whom I fell in love with. He didnt only enlighten me sartorially, but also brought me a whole new different mindset, attitude and life values. He really did change my life in the most dramatic and amazing ways.

I felt so bad, just like my style icon Daphne Guinness, who was seen in a heavy black veil, mourning for her best friend, but of course my grief cannot be compared to hers. I feel for her, and cannot bear to imagine the anguish she feels.

I saw her catwalking for Fashion Relief, where she, Naomi and other beauties paid the final tribute to McQueen. Photos shown below.

Daphne's tear streaked face was wrapped under a flowing white veil, and she wore a pair of heel-less platform shoes, staggerring in height, to match McQueen's final personal creation for her- a silvery golden shimmerring bodysuit, exquisitely handcrafted for her.

My heart was even more torn when I could see her crying her way through, and could feel her distress as she couldnt bring herself to really magnificently like she always does. She stumbled backwards a bit in her overwhelming thoughts of sorrows and I almost drowned with her... May God bless him and her.

So as you can see, I wasnt in any mood to do anything, let alone update my blog. I dont want to infect readers further with my pain and anguish.

Now, stepping into the new year of the Tiger, this year is sure to be a great year coming.
Lifting my black veil of sorrows, I will make McQueen immortal by carrying on living the way he inspired my to, just like many others like me around the world, who are touched in similar but personal ways.

We love you, Lee. Rest in peace, in a tranquil world of your own. One day, I will catch up with you at the other end of the rainbow, where we will watch the stars fall into the sea.
